Hey there everyone! How were your new years celebrations?! I hope you had a fantastic weekend leading up to the holiday and that you started your new year right with friends and loved ones!
Before I get started on my New Year's celebration recap, I have to say CONGRATULATIONS to Allie of Forgotten Beast for winning the Button Earrings Giveaway!
Allie, please send me an email [LuckyZuc @ gmail.com] with your address and which earrings you'd like and I'll send them to you right away! I have the feeling they're going to go well with your booty shorts in the gym! ;]
Onto the festivities! My friends and I had a wonderful time in Gulf Shores, ringing in the new year at the beach. Couldn't ask for more than that, could you?!
We drove down to the beach on Monday and partied the night away at the infamous Flora-Bama bar.
The crowd couldn't have been nicer and we had a great time wandering from room to room, listening to the different bands and making new friends. At midnight, they had a champagne toast and then an unbelievable fireworks show!
We danced the night away and finally moseyed back to our condo for a few hours of sleep before the big event of New Year's Day: The Polar Bear Dip!
Hundreds of folks head down to the water and jump into the gulf to ring in the new year. My friends and I went for the "feet only" option, but it certainly was fun to see all the crazy people in their bathrobes, Santa outfits and more starting the new year off with a splash!
I spy Santa and his reindeer!
We got back to town yesterday and after a quick visit with my parents to pick up Bailey Bean, I headed home and unpacked. It feels good to be back on my normal schedule with my favorite fluffy love bug by my side!
Mom and dad must have worn her out while I was gone!
Now that the holidays are over and I've had my fill of oysters and beer, it's time to get back to my normal, healthy lifestyle. Daily walks with Bailey, Insanity workouts, healthy eats and more. I'm joining Laura in her Junk-Free-January challenge and I hope you'll join us too!
Yesterday when I got back in town, my mom and I went to the store together to stock up on clean foods and now my fridge and kitchen are packed with fruits and veggies just waiting to be consumed. Sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, okra, bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, apples, spinach, barley, hummus, tomatoes, almonds, squash, onions and avocado all made it into my cart and I am beyond excited to eat all the things.
School begins in just eleven days. Rather than New Year's Resolutions, it is simply my goal to get Bailey and myself on a good, healthy schedule that enables us to have the best year we possibly can in 2013. I may be writing this to convince myself, but I really think we can do it!
And so, with that, here's to the new year. To 2013. To new beginnings and healthy habits. To happiness, love and joy. To family. To friends. To fun. To all the wonderful possibilities and opportunities that exist thanks to this new beginning. I wish each of you the best and I can't wait to share this journey with you. Happy New Year, y'all!
Before you go, tell me:
How did you celebrate the new year?
What healthy habits do you plan to maintain during 2013? Any big happiness, health or fitness goals?

sounds like a great way to ring in the new year, I need to load up my fridge. being back to an empty apartment and empty fridge is way too sad.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed you even did the feet option of the Polar Bear swim! I am such a wuss. :)
ReplyDeleteHooray for Junk-Free January! I always look forward to the holidays, and am always relieved when I can get back to "normal."
Looks like you had a really fun NYE! I'm cold just thinking about the polar bear plunge though. I could never do that!! Though, I have to admit, I kind of wanted to join in when I went to watch one. It gets so festive! Good luck with Junk-Free January!! Looks like you're starting the new year on a nice, healthy note!
ReplyDeleteYou had the best New Year's ever! It's so cold in WI! I was like 5 degrees out on the first! My other resolution is to teach Oliver more tricks, like playing dead :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely New Years celebration, although I'm shivering just reading about your Polar Bear Dip! I love your goal for 2013, and the concept of Junk-Free January! One of my big ones for this year is to see my friends more. I feel like friendships are lost when you don't put the effort in, and I don't want that happening to mine because I have awesome friends!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome New Years Eve/New Years!!! I don't thin I could ever do a Polar Bear Dip. I'm freezing when it's 60 degrees & below, Ha Ha!
ReplyDeleteThiiiiiis post makes me SO HAPPY! I've e-mailed you! Also, can I move into your fridge full of fresh, delicious veggies?? It would save you postage, you could just open the fridge door and hand me some fabulous earrings ;D
