Meeting Smitten Kitchen

Well, well! Friday finally arrived! I am thrilled. This weekend isn't going to be overly exciting, but I am hoping it is productive and restful- two things I desperately need!

Last night, Laura, Alayna, my sister and I had a great time seeing Deb from Smitten Kitchen speak a little about her new cookbook and how she got where she is now. Deb was so down to earth, humble, graceful and approachable. I can't say she talked about much that we all haven't heard before in terms of blogging tips and success (there is no secret- just put out good content), but she was definitely knowledgeable and happy to share her story with the crowd.

After the talk and Q&A, the four of us sat down to dinner while waiting for the line to die down for meeting Deb. The amount of people that showed up for the signing was insane!

That's not even half of the folks that were there.

For dinner, I chowed down on a super buttery veggie melt and sweet potato tots. The sandwich was OK for bar food (too greasy for my taste), but the tots really stole the show. I couldn't stop popping them in my mouth, even long after I was full.

Apparently we timed it perfectly because once we finished our meals and paid for our checks, the line was down to about ten people. The four of us went up and thanked Deb for coming to Atlanta and told her about our favorite recipes from her site. She was so gracious and even asked us to email her our websites so that she could take a look at them! I'm too embarrassed to send my little site over to a blogging genius like her, but I found it really sweet how genuinely interested she seemed. Three cheers for nice humans experiencing success!

Alright party people, I've got to finish up things here at work, but I hope that each of you has an absolutely wonderful weekend and I look forward to catching up with you come Monday!

Til then...

  7. I'm so interested in bloggers who have made it big. Anything is possible! I've never had sweet potato tots (they don't sell them up here). But since I love sweet potatoes and tater tots, I'm sure I would LOVE these!
